Pointing at the Sun

This is Cheryl's first release on her own label, Dias, which is an acronym for Daylight is Also Starlight. It contains many of the songs from recent live shows, including the "Cat Trilogy". It also has a new version of Summerfly, as well as a newer song, Underbrush, which has unfortunately not been done much at live shows before the album's release.

Order Pointing at the Sun from Goldenrod Music.

This is a great album. Kenny White did a great job of arranging the Cat Trilogy, and Ben Wisch worked wonders with the other songs. It is always nice to hear a studio version of songs we have heard Cheryl do solo or with Kenny, and this album is no exception. It is also nice to hear Summerfly again after all these years.

Shelly Brisbin, who runs Cheryl's e-mail list, interviewed Cheryl shortly after the album was available. She offers some insight on the album, as well as other interesting things.

If you have attended one of her live shows before the release of this album, you probably remember hearing that Penrod, the star of the "Cat Trilogy", had passed away before this album was recorded. You might also know that Penrod appears on the album. He was cremated, and his ashes were used as a percussion instrument. If you look at the liner notes, the drummer is credited with playing the "catash". That was a joke :^)
